We rarely get sunsets worth mentioning in Sussex — our atmospheric conditions are mediocre at best. However, with a little bit of fun (HDR), I created a landscape that has an awful lot to look at — the tree in the foreground, the line of trees in the background, the details of the grass. And of course, quite a spectacular sunset!
This is a post for Skywatch Friday.

It’s very beautiful. I’m glad you can create beauty when you don’t have it to look at all the time. (At least this kind of beauty; you probably have other kinds there.)

That was well worth the wait. Sunsets tend to surprise you when you least expect it.

The thing I love about English sunsets (well, perhaps others too, but I’m not so accustomed to them!) is that they only look like this for about 30 seconds — you get the briefest splash of pinks just for a few moments, and then the sun dips below the horizon… gone for ever! Well, until dawn, but…
We have to find beauty in drizzly rain, Louise…

HDR or no HDR…that is gorgeous. Glad you had such a great photo op!

Well, it was HDR, but that is how the sky looked to, to the human eye! I don’t use HDR to create false colouring, more just… to pick up everything that the naked eye can see. Cameras are still a little backwards when you’re dealing with extreme light and dark

Thank you! I thought about a weekly satirical rant… It would go down well, I think

It was a pleasure to take it, and to share it! Standing alone in a field, waiting for a long exposure, getting very cold indeed…! Thanks
