This is a recent photo of mine, taken on some heathland in Surrey. For some reason (which I still don’t know!) a herd of Highland Cattle had been transplanted to this heathland in the South of England — some 600 miles away from where they’re meant to be.
Anyway, the focus of the photo is undoubtedly the cow, but it just so happened that the sky decided to spoil me at the same time. It may not look very real, but I assure you it is!
This is a post for Skywatch Friday.

This one almost made it into National Geographic!
Unfortunately… they don’t seem very interested in England

Thanks!
Still, the feeling of walking along a path, hearing a rustling a few feet to your left, looking through the thorny shrubs and spying a 10-foot bull almost entirely hidden by the undergrowth…
Quite awesome! We traipsed around trying to find all of the herd, but we only found a few!

Interesting! Almost looks like it could be West Texas with a bunch of Texas Longhorns! Great sky too. Thanks.

Hehe, I wonder of cattle are native to America, or if they were brought there from Europe… they might actually be related!

It’s like someone over the horizon is holding a very large cloud vacuum for some undoubtedly evil plan.
I also like the hints of warmer color on the left side, but the clouds are what I love about this photo.

Gorgeous. I like the way the clouds are converging on the horizon.

What a fantastic mental image, Bryan
The sun is setting to the left. I actually wanted to take a photo of the sunset (it was startling!) but I couldn’t find a high vantage point, and there was just too much scrub and scree everywhere preventing me from getting the right shot… so I got a lovely one of the cow, instead!
Thanks Sandy — I guess the wind just happened to be blowing in the right direction at the time to give it that ‘stippled’ effect!

That’s a beautiful image. And going by the horns, that bull seems to be a massive fella.
Lovely colors and composition

He was utterly huge. I’m 6’5″, and he dwarfed me!
Thanks!
