This is another sunset picture from Sussex, my home county, in England. This one is early on though, with there still being plenty of daylight to bring out the detail in the foreground.
While the sky has a creamy and dreamy quality to it, I love the texture of the frozen pond — and the ducks that are huddling for warmth! Poor things. This is an ‘original’ photo with only minimal cropping, and no colour correction.
This is a post for Skywatch Friday.

Thanks
It was yet again one of those rare moments where the English sky gives us a brief burst of pink… it’s only ever for about 30 seconds, but it’s lovely when it happens!

This is really great – and the colors are beautiful!!! Longing for the summer, but must admit that winter can be sooooo pretty

Guy – thanks!
Lene… here in England we spend most of the year longing for the summer (that sometimes never comes), and when or if it finally arrives we always curse it for being too hot and spend the sunny days praying for rain…
To the very core we are drizzle-lovers!

Could be a challenge to be a duck and deal with that!

Well, you can see there are a bunch of them, huddled up for warmth… but yes, sitting on a sheet of ice must be quite cold for the bottom

I love this picture – the trees, the calmness of it…And I hope the ducks didn’t get frozen unto the lake!

I went back to check on them a few days later, and the ducks seemed to be unharmed and enjoying the running water again

Love this photo! The blue and pink are simply wonderful – the whole scenery is wonderful! The photo reminded me of a story about a winter so cold that the ducks froze unto the lake. When they left, they took the lake with them….

Nice title and great capture. I like the foreground elements and how the trees in the middle and left are fairly distinct from each other.

I love your photo with the gentle hues and bare trees.

Thanks! The composition in this case is fantastic actually — as good as I could’ve hoped for when dealing with wild landscapes, anyway!

A visit once again, to answer your question on my blog; Of course I am a tall warrior woman!
I understand you know about Norse mythology! My nick name is based on my real name, a quite unusual name from the norse mythologi – one of the more unknown valkyries!
And once again; I could stare at your photo for hours! It is simply beautiful! Since I have visited Sussex, Wales, Lake District, seen Breacon Beacons (don’t know if it is spelled correct) – been around England by car, I know your island has a lot of beautiful places to visit!
Thanks for visiting my blog Sebastian! I will surely come back and visit your site, you have some stunning photos!

Hi again!
The macro you wondered about is ice! A closup of an icesculpture – then cropped a lot – bacause I discovered a lot of formations there! I love taking pictures of ice – you never know what you have on the camera before you get home to watch it on your PC!
Looking forward to see pics from your trip to Wales!
