The gymnast:
I know he looks young but he’s actually 21! They all look stupidly young here. Even the girls…
I took this photo while we were stuck up a mountain waiting for fog to clear — it had been clear on the way up, but fog in the Faroe Islands has this way of very, very rapidly blanketing everything in sight. Here the visibility’s down to about 100 meters but it got down to about 5 meters a few minutes later…!
It’s not a great photo, but you get the idea!
My other host (they’re kind of sharing me) looks like this:
While we were waiting for the fog to clear he scouted ahead. Somehow he ended up on top of that rather large rock (there was no easy way up there but these crazy mountain-dwelling Faroese always find a way…)
I just realised I can’t really say any more about them without asking permission first, so you’ll just have to do with two photos.
Wandering around the streets like a drunk viking tomorrow! Can’t wait. So far all of the carousing seems to be done almost exclusively by men. I hope there are girls there tomorrow…

Ooh cute boy! Have you told them that they should get photographed by you more so cute girls can talk about how hot they are? Because seriously, the world needs more photos of cute boys.

You have some great foggy and fairytale like scenes here but everybody seems more interested in the young guys. Oh well, that´s the way the world works.

Why it takes 1 minute for the comment to show here? It´s so slow that I have trouble waiting.

Not sure, Chrome — sometimes the site just waits a looong time before loading. I’ve looked for the obvious causes and found none. It’s very odd; will see if I can fix it when I get home.
I think you nailed popular, globalised culture on the head with your comment about young guys…
Don’t forget the incense, mum.

It must be the salty sea air. Maybe you’ll look younger when you get home!

I’m still alive! And now back in the UK! Hooray!
I have a few more photos that I can share I think… but none of them are smiling. I guess people don’t often take photos of people in the Faroes; it would be like walking around with a camera and taking photos of your own friends for… no apparent reason. Or something.
Mind’s not working great right now.
Anyway, have a few more photos to share from my last few days — hopefully up later tonight…
We didn’t get ID’d once, Mental — I think because it’s just like one big family. Or because IDing everyone would be tiresome. It’s hard to appreciate just how big the crowds were last night while we partied… about 20,000 people in half a square mile, all crammed into a few bars… crazy!
(Definitely the sea air, Jaime — that, or some weird genetics…)
