I’ve successfully written something every weekday for over six months. In fact, for five months I blogged every day. 296 entries published in 193 days. That has to be some kind of record.
Yosemite National Park, striking a pose.
I usually call this ‘The Explorer’ photo, which is rather fitting considering where I am soon going!
And now I’m going to break the perfect streak! Come Monday morning, I am LEAVING! On a jet plane! To the Faroe Islands! For 17 days! (I know, I’m either going to love this trip, or get so incredibly bored…)
This means a few things:
- No more daily updates but…
- … Over the next 17 days you are likely to get a lot of pretty photos and not much else. Hopefully this is good news!
- I will be slow, or fail entirely, at responding to comments. But do let me know if you like or dislike the photos — this will be a bit of a learning experience for me and I’m eager to find out if I can do the Faroe Islands justice. I hope I can…
- However, with regard to comments, if you buy a print I’ll always respond to you, guaranteed! (I’ll get some photos from the Faroes up on my shop as soon as possible.)
- No more deep-and-meaningful stuff for at least three weeks. I might however write a little on contentious topics like whaling, and how cute (but inbred) Faroese girls are.
And with that said, I’m going to pack my bags. If someone could remind me on Sunday night to check if I’ve packed plenty of clean underwear, that’d be great.
I’ll take a photo in full Faroe Islands Bad Weather Hiking Gear on Sunday night before I leave. And for your viewing pleasure I’ll be wearing the gold-sequined Minnie Mouse ears. Someone actually bought a personalised landscape and requested the ears, can you believe it?

Oh I’m actually looking forward to this. As long as the pretty photos don’t have you in them, I’ll be thrilled.

At least half of them will, Kali, so you might just want to look away now. (Thanks for the reminder to leave you in the moderation queue while I’m gone!)
Maybe we can watch, er… Harry Potter, Pink? Though I guess you will watch that the day it comes out.
I wonder if they even HAVE a cinema in the Faroe Islands. Hah.
Where are you going Rachel?

Seems like it’s kind of a slow blogging season anyway. Bon voyage!

It’s the summer… all that sun and partying makes everyone happy. And then, in a month or two, all of those summer romances shall be split asunder and the emo, angsty bloggers will be back in town.
The wheel of time turns.

I’m off to London for a week, all by myself, to study modes of museum display. It’s a residential course. Are you sorry you asked now? I’m nervous but I’m starting to look forward to it. Nearly packed and ready.
Looking forward to your puffin burgers? Lol. Poor little things…

Modes of museum display… is this to become a curator? Or to become a window dresser?! I think my aunt sets up displays (all sorts) for a living… sounds like a fun job!
I don’t know how much meat there actually is on a puffin. I assume they’re like a duck, but even smaller — so probably not a lot of meat. And very, very fatty.
But we’ll see. I’m game, if there’s some haute cuisine place that does puffin á la mode…

More towards to gallery/curator side. I’m a librarian when I’m not jewellery making. We have special collections and old manuscripts, but I love galleries and art history, so it all ties in as very Rachel-friendly.
Puffin with chips, puffin salad, puffin pie, puffin en croute, puffin fritters….

I will do Yellowstone if I return to the US… but I have a few places to see and a few things to do before I head back in your direction.
I am contemplating settling down in LA for a while though, before I go into the Far East… We’ll see how that develops though

I’ve been discussing the underwear issue on the Etsy forums this afternoon.
Apparently, if I don’t wear underwear (the other option, considering 3 pairs of boxer shorts might not stretch to 17 days), I might ‘dry cure’ my man bits.
In the same way they prepare their sheep and fish. Very salty wind there.

Like it will matter if you have clean underwear packed. LIKE IT WILL MATTER!!
I’m really exciting for you to be going, and I’m even more excited to see what you come back with on your camera.

It’s a flyspeck about a 1000th the size of Iraqistan, MinD. Not really all that important when it comes to world politics… I’m sure, even if you guys don’t miss me, my mother will.
Thanks Eric! What was wrong with it…?

Have fun on your trip! I’m sure you’ll have a really good time. Looking forward to seeing those pics… (and you should probably make sure you pack that underwear FIRST, so you don’t get stuck with one pair again
)

The boys look pretty cute, Andhari. But a bit short. But I guess… short is good, right? So you can still reach the important bits.
There is currently SIX pairs of boxer shorts staring back at me from my over-sized suitcase.
