Arrived safely!
Went for a drive around 11:30 (just before midnight…!) and took these two photos, both from Muli, an abandoned village on the island of Bordoy. It was only abandoned in 1998 as life there is unsustainable (miles from anywhere, and only reachable by boat for much of its history). My host, as part of work experience, once shoveled 5 tons of sheep shit out of one of the sheds there (which is why we were there I think…)
Tomorrow we hope for less fog. And less rain. I think this is going to be a wet holiday.

Beautiful! I love abandoned buildings! Did you remember your underwear?

You know, the repetitive underwear thing is going to get old pretty quickly.
Even if I didn’t remember it, the driving salty wind is probably enough to keep the singular boxers fairly fresh anyway.
The road we used to access the village was only built after it was abandoned apparently. Odd place.

Thanks! I ought to sleep, but it’s still light out…
But I should try…

Looks magical, sebbie. You know how much I’d prefer wet and raony weather like that rather than long hot sunny days in Jakarta. Have fun!

Wow.
I know that’s short and lame but that’s how I feel.
Wow.

It is hard to believe that the photos were taken just before midnight!
Very pretty!

Damnit Seb! Eyemask!. I knew you forgot something essential. Persuade a Puffin to sleep on your eyes to block out the light.
Or I just may now me so ill it has actually caused me to go mad. x

My bedroom has a thin lacy curtain and blocked about… 10% of the light.
I got about an hour of sleep last night with ol’ faithful pillow-over-head technique.
Looks foggy again today… but maybe thin enough to take some better photos…

The bottom photo is particularly lovely. Great clarity and colour on the buildings.

Very pretty! Having fun being on holiday at long last? I sleep with my curtains open and a light outside my bedroom, I think you get used to it… then again that’s just lame coming from a borderline-narcoleptic!

Still foggy… went for a walk. This salty wind has also stuck my hair into permanent just-out-of-bed look (which I am told is quite attractive, or at least the local girls seem to be staring in a pleasant way…)
Helen, I used to be able to sleep in the light, but I don’t sleep as well as I used to. Now I have to shove my head under the duvet and try my best.
Glad you like the photos
Got a few more coming… of the fog.

I would love to live in the abandoned village….imagine a whole little town all to yourself!
Love the pictures….everything looks almost mystical.

Are these re-touched? They look incredible.

Try hanging a towel or a blanket up at the window….

I think we’re going for black plastic bags on the windows…
There’s the occasional bit of re-touching Nico, normally for water-on-lens — or some cropping. But not ‘re-touched’ in the conventional sense…! I am quite a good photographer, believe it or not
Hannah, if you want to give it a go and rejuvenate an abandoned village, I think the locals would be 100% behind you…
